The Fake Cheat Scam Problem There are a lot of online gamers out there that are looking for cheats that would give them an advantage over other players and obviously the notion of a hack or cheat that can give you unlimited money, god modes and premium currency in your favorite online games sounds awesome enough. – Add the notion of all that being available for free and you got yourself a good bait to lure unsuspecting gamers into a trap. In the past 10+ years many illegitimate internet marketers have made it their business to offer fake hacks to customers that claim to provide impossible cheats for online games. – In 99.9% of modern online games cheats such as God Modes, Unlimited Money or Items are not possible due to the fact that these values are processed server-side nowadays.

So by offering fake hacks that offer impossible cheating methods, these marketers lure the non-savvy cheater into filling in surveys, paying money, clicking ads, downloading adware, malware or other monetized software or even giving away their passwords and therefore compromising their accounts. The most common method of doing so is to show people a “hack / generator / adder skin” that has either been photoshoped into existence or programmed (as shown in the picture), but offers not functionality what so ever, then asking them to fill in a survey to download the file. – People will have to complete offers using their phone or buy things in order to pass that barrier and once they have done that, they will either get a fake hack that does nothing but show you a moving progress bar, get nothing or get maware. The “providers” of these fake hacks will get paid for every user that completes an offer, clicks a fake download ad, installs adware or other monetized software or they will plunder your account after stealing your login data and sell the virtual items and currency gained from that. – What these people are doing is fraud, false advertising and illegal in most countries, but police predominantly ignore the issue, since they do have more important things to do and most people won’t press charges. Why people do it While most people are aware of these fakes, since they probably fell for it once, there are still some younger folks that have not fallen for it yet and still have the disappointment coming.
